TOTEM AUTOMOBILI PRESENTS “LYLA”, GT SUPER 26
Commissioned by a Californian client through the Totem Individual Program, Lyla introduces the new “Turismo 70” livery and explores a material language shaped by 1970s motorsport, industrial design and period instrumentation.
Treviso, 12th October 2026 - Totem Automobili presents “Lyla”, GT Super 26, a new commission developed through the Totem Individual Program for a Californian client. The configuration draws from a series of references rooted in the 1970s, moving between racing graphics, industrial design, textiles and mechanical instrumentation. Rather than reproducing a specific period aesthetic, these elements have been brought together through a contemporary material and colour language developed specifically for the car. At the centre of the specification is the new “Turismo 70” livery, accompanied inside the cabin by Corian components machined from solid, tailored textile inserts and an original Heuer Trackstar timing set from the 1970s.
A LIVERY INSPIRED BY 1970s MOTORSPORT
Lyla introduces Totem’s new “Turismo 70” configuration, a graphic treatment informed by the colour blocking and contrasting surfaces found across racing cars of the 1970s. A metallic Grigio Milano forms the main body colour, while a three-layer pearlescent white finish defines the front section and the rear light surrounds. The resulting composition avoids a literal recreation of a period racing livery. Instead, the contrast between grey metallic and pearl white translates the visual language of the era into a more restrained contemporary scheme. The same relationship continues inside the car, where black Nappa leather is combined with white composition stitching designed to echo the exterior graphic treatment.
MATERIAL RESEARCH
Material selection forms a central part of Lyla’s interior. For two of the principal points of interaction with the car, Totem selected “Corian”, a technical material that has been used in industrial and interior design since the 1970s. Composed primarily of aluminium trihydrate within an acrylic polymer matrix, the material combines a dense, homogeneous structure with distinctive mechanical and tactile characteristics. On Lyla, Corian is machined from solid for the gear knob and incorporated into a bespoke Totem Design steering wheel, where it is paired with machined aluminium. Its smooth, dense and almost mineral feel creates a deliberately different tactile experience from the leather, metal and carbon fibre surrounding it - cool and precise to the touch, while retaining a softer visual character than conventional metallic components.
CARBON, METAL AND EXPOSED MECHANICS
Lyla is specified with the complete interior and exterior carbon package, finished in gloss Totem Design weave and paired with satin nickel trim. Within the cabin, the material palette is complemented by a number of components developed specifically around the configuration. The exposed “Skeleton” gear tower makes the operation of the manual transmission visible within the interior, while Totem’s native carbo-titanium steering-column switchgear combines carbon fibre, titanium and exposed mechanical elements. Together with the Corian and aluminium steering wheel, these components establish a common language in which the construction and operation of each element remain deliberately legible.
A PIECE OF PERIOD MOTORSPORT INSTRUMENTATION
Another reference to Lyla’s 1970s inspiration comes through an original Swiss-made Heuer Trackstar timing set from the period. Originally conceived for regularity competition, the system consists of two separate timing instruments using sexagesimal and decimal scales, allowing crews to measure and compare time according to the requirements of regularity events. Rather than treating the instruments as an accessory added to the dashboard, Totem developed a dedicated support for Lyla, machined from solid and designed around the geometry of the two Trackstar units. The result integrates the vintage instruments as a permanent element of the cabin architecture: period motorsport equipment given a new functional context inside the GT Super.
TEXTILES AS PART OF THE MATERIAL PALETTE
Textile inserts offer another layer of personalisation within the Totem Individual Program, with research often extending beyond the automotive world and into Italian furniture and interior design. For Lyla, a particular Prince of Wales cloth was selected for the subtle relationship between its grey and white tones. Used alongside black Nappa leather, carbon fibre, Corian and satin nickel, the fabric introduces a softer surface into the cabin while creating a direct chromatic connection with the Grigio Milano and pearl-white exterior. Rather than operating as a decorative accent, the textile becomes part of the broader material composition of the car.
GT SUPER 26
Beneath Lyla’s individual specification remains the architecture of the Totem GT Super. Its carbon-fibre monocoque is paired with a full carbon body and a 2.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 developed by Italtecnica, producing up to 640 hp at 7.200 rpm. Power is delivered through a six-speed gated manual transmission, while double-wishbone suspension at both axles, electronically adjustable ORAM dampers and a Brembo braking system define the GT Super’s mechanical package. For Lyla, however, the engineering platform is only the starting point. The “Turismo 70” graphics, Corian controls, Prince of Wales textile, exposed mechanical components and original Heuer instrumentation were developed as parts of a single configuration - bringing together references from motorsport, industrial design and interiors rather than treating personalisation as a sequence of independent options.
