TOTEM AUTOMOBILI UNVEILS THE “TIZIANO” PLATFORM: A NEW VISION OF THE ITALIAN AUTOMOBILE
At The Quail, during Monterey Car Week in California, Totem Automobili presents its vision for the future and introduces Tiziano, its new proprietary modular technical platform that will underpin the upcoming T12 Series.
California, August 2026 - At Pebble Beach, Totem Automobili presents Tiziano, the new proprietary architecture at the heart of the company’s strategic manifesto.
Tiziano is the technical expression of a broader transformation: Totem Automobili’s evolution into a new kind of Boutique Manufacturer, capable of designing its own architectures in-house, developing dedicated powertrains, and creating limited-production automobiles without relying on donor cars or pre-existing platforms.
Tiziano will form the foundation of the new T12 Series, a family of Totem automobiles comprising different style interpretations sharing the same core technical architecture while expressing entirely different personalities, proportions and design languages.
THE TOTEM MANIFESTO Totem Automobili is deeply rooted in the great tradition of Italian carmaking - not to recreate its shapes or indulge in nostalgia, but to embrace its most authentic principles and transform them into something new. At the heart of this vision lies the concept of Timeless Design: the belief that design is not merely one of the defining characteristics of an automobile, but the point from which everything begins. Every Totem project starts with a pursuit of form, proportion and beauty, while engineering is developed to translate that vision into something tangible, coherent and dynamically accomplished. The connection with the great Italian automobiles of the past is therefore above all emotional and cultural: a source of inspiration from which to create objects conceived for the future, where craftsmanship, contemporary technology and creative freedom coexist without compromise.
BEYOND RESTOMOD With this new chapter, Totem Automobili defines its role within the international automotive landscape more clearly than ever, moving beyond the very concept of the restomod. At the heart of this evolution is a deliberate choice: to eliminate any dependence on donor cars and overcome the structural, dimensional and dynamic limitations inevitably associated with architectures engineered decades ago. Instead, Totem starts from a clean sheet, developing its own monocoques, subframes, suspension systems and complete mechanical architectures in-house. The result is an automobile that is contemporary in every component while granting designers the greatest possible freedom of expression. The same philosophy extends to the development of its powertrains. Totem platforms are engineered from the outset to accommodate dedicated propulsion systems based around three distinct technical philosophies - twin-turbocharged V6, naturally aspirated V12 and Full Electric - each conceived to deliver a different interpretation of the driving experience. Totem therefore does not modify existing cars, nor does it simply clothe third-party structures in a new body. It designs and builds automobiles of its own, conceived from the ground up as original Totem creations. Each car is produced in limited numbers through a process in which engineering, design and craftsmanship converge to create an object that sits closer to a piece of mechanical sculpture than to a conventional industrial product.
THE TIZIANO PLATFORM AS CREATIVE FREEDOM Tiziano is founded on a principle deeply rooted in the finest tradition of Italian automotive design: separating the technical architecture from its formal expression, allowing each to evolve with the greatest possible freedom. The platform is therefore not conceived simply as the chassis of a single model, but as an independent technological system capable of integrating the structure, engine, transmission, suspension, steering, braking system and primary auxiliary systems within one cohesive architecture. Upon this foundation, the bodywork can be interpreted freely, allowing automobiles with profoundly different proportions, volumes and design languages to emerge from the same technical core. It is precisely this separation between engineering and form that gives designers and engineers the freedom to explore new solutions without having to reinvent the entire automobile each time. Tiziano thus becomes a true technical canvas, upon which different interpretations of the sports car can be created while retaining the same underlying engineering DNA.
A CARBON-FIBRE CORE At the heart of the Tiziano platform is a structural carbon-fibre central monocoque, connected to two aluminium subframes and engineered to combine exceptional structural rigidity with low mass. This architecture is complemented by an upper tubular structure mounted to the monocoque, designed to accommodate different body configurations, both open and closed, without altering the technical and structural core of the vehicle. From the outset, Tiziano has therefore been conceived as a genuinely modular platform, capable of adapting to a variety of design interpretations while preserving the same fundamental engineering principles. The same flexibility extends to its powertrain architecture. Tiziano has been engineered to accommodate several different propulsion systems, ranging from a naturally aspirated V12 and a twin-turbocharged V6 to a fully electric powertrain. Its first expression, however, will also be its most radical.
T12: THE FIRST EXPRESSION OF TIZIANO The T12 Series will be the first application of the Tiziano platform and represents its most uncompromising interpretation. At the heart of the project sits a naturally aspirated Italtecnica V12, whose final technical specifications have not yet been released as the engine remains under development. The V12 is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, limited-slip differential and hydraulically operated twin-plate clutch. This is not a nostalgic exercise, but a deliberate choice intended to preserve a direct, mechanical connection between driver and machine, placing involvement and interaction at the very centre of the Totem driving experience.
A ROLLING CHASSIS ENGINEERED LIKE A RACING CAR Tiziano features double-wishbone suspension on both axles, with spring-and-damper units actuated through a pushrod and rocker system. This configuration allows the mass of the springs and dampers to be concentrated closer to the centre of the car, reducing unsprung mass and improving the chassis’ sensitivity to load transfer. The main suspension components have been designed specifically for the platform and manufactured from 7075-T6 ERGAL aluminium, while damper calibration can be electronically adjusted from the cockpit in both compression and rebound. Adjustable anti-roll bars complete the suspension setup. Braking is handled by Brembo components, with six-piston fixed calipers at the front and four-piston units at the rear, paired with ventilated steel discs, with carbon-ceramic discs also available. A hydraulically assisted rack-and-pinion steering system is complemented by an adjustable steering column and pedal box, allowing the driving position to be tailored around the individual driver. The package is completed by a targeted weight distribution of 45% front and 55% rear.
2027 During 2027, Totem will transform this manifesto into a physical reality by unveiling the fully operational T12 rolling chassis, intentionally presented without bodywork. The V12, carbon-fibre monocoque, suspension system and complete mechanical architecture will remain entirely exposed, turning what would normally remain hidden beneath the surface of the car into the central focus of the presentation. Alongside the chassis, Totem will unveil different interpretations of the T12 providing an immediate demonstration of how a single technical architecture can give rise to automobiles that are profoundly different in proportion, design language and character.
THE RETURN OF TRUE TAILOR-MADE The modular nature of Tiziano continues into the direct relationship between Totem and its clients, who will be invited to take an active role in the development of their own automobile. Lighting elements, air intakes, exterior components, materials, colours, finishes and interior configurations can all be extensively reinterpreted, with the aim of giving each individual car its own identity and effectively transforming it into a one-off within a limited series. In doing so, Totem intends to restore the true meaning of tailor-made: not simply selecting colours and materials from a configurator, but taking part in a shared creative process built around direct dialogue between client, designer, engineer and craftsman. It is through this relationship that every Totem ultimately finds its definitive form.
With the Manifesto presented in California and the introduction of the Tiziano platform, Totem Automobili sets out its vision for the future: to understand the spirit of the past, preserve its emotion and reinterpret it through the tools of contemporary engineering, with the ambition of creating the classics of tomorrow.
